Someone’s posting? What! OMG.

February 22nd, 2009 Edit

I arrived in Dresden, Germany on January 6th after a long and drawn out ordeal with my international flight, which turned into flights.
I was supposed to arrive in Dresden at 3pm or so. I ended up arriving at 11:30 pm or so local time.

One might be asking what I’m talking about:

I decided one day a few months ago I was tired of going to school, that I needed a break from my Journalism classes (and the people in them.) I put my child care credentials up on an au pair website (my, ahem, extensive credentials) and within three weeks a plane ticket had been bought for me to go to Dresden.
An au pair is “a person, usually a young foreign visitor, employed to take care of children, do housework, etc., in exchange for room and board.” I also get a monthly salary, or “pocket money.”
And sure enough, on January 5th, after a very long night turned morning, I was on a plane to San Francisco.

So there it is. I’m living in Germany now with my host family in the beautiful city of Dresden. I’m here for a year.
I’ve gone down the high-tech route of writing the mass, how-I’m-doing email and turning it instead into a blog. I think it’s easier to send a link than clog up people’s inboxes with masses of pictures.

Enjoy! I’ll update it with the new news of the day, of the skiing holiday in the Austrian Alps, of learning how to ski, of all sorts of things, in a couple of days from writing. Or maybe a couple of weeks. Either way, picture links are on the blog. The writing’s on the blog.

Good luck. Good night.
Enjoy.
